cursor rules how to modify
1) overall one for your cursor. how you’d like cursor to work in general
2) .cursorrules in repo which is project specific file it will read from e.g. https://cursor.directory that works with your project

one big mono repo for everything. so cursor has all the context. then make sure you can only open the specific sub directory e.g. frontend code if you’re only working in there so cursor won’t mismatch with backend. For the big mono repo prompt specifically or have it do integrations. 

I was very right on mono repos.

Cursor rules I am less sure about, feels like they never clicked for me.

claude code seems to do a better job following CLAUDE.md files

Likely one coudl refactor their cursor rules into CLAUDE.md files and vice versa if cursor takes the lead again.

i've found cursor rules to be incredibly helpful

For auto enforcement all the time or with rules based on files?

I found they don’t get attached in later on prompts and then loose their magic with agent mode or is that fixed?
