PERSONAL UPDATE: After an amazing 3.5 years, I’m leaving a16z to work on something new (more on that below). It’s been an incredible experience getting to work with our portcos alongside some of the smartest people I know. To the entire a16z team, especially @cdixon and Ali and the rest of the deal team: thank you for showing me what having a truly world-class culture means. You make a16z special. To all the founders I’ve met and worked with: it’s been an honor to be a part of your journey. I’ve learned so much from you and am excited for the things to come. So what’s next? I’m joining the indomitable @samrags and @rfs to build Merit Systems. We are building tools, markets, and mechanisms to create an entirely new economy for software creation and contribution. Open source software is eating the world. It empowers every major company - and supports trillions of dollars of value every year. It’s a lever on the world - the way to make more with less. What if we could give it superpowers? We are a team of open source veterans with a fresh perspective on capital formation. @samrags and I worked together at a16z as hybrid engineers/investors, and @rfs comes from Blockchain Capital and AWS before that.
