Leg Destruction Time It was one of those mornings when even the dog walkers stay home. 5 degrees C with winds making it feel like -2 C. And heavy rain. It’s hard enough to get out the door in the predawn darkness. But it was leg destruction day. Some things must be done. On the surface this looks like many of my hill repeat runs, but this is my version of David Roche’s “say no to rabdo” fatigue resistance workout. No mountains here, so it’s hill intervals where the descents are fast and the uphills are the rest intervals. The planned route was the grassy ski hill, which had been drying up nicely in recent days …. before the rain started overnight. The goal is destroy your legs by repeatedly running hard on the downhills. If I was successful, I should be feeling some D.O.M.S. in 2 days time. The idea is that it triggers an adaptation that will help in late stages of hilly ultras. I think it can help especially on courses with a lot of runnable descents. 😉 Time will tell. The rain was relentless. The wind was relentless. The hills were relentless. I was relentless. ⛰️
