Today is Day One at my new job – the first time I’ve had full-time employment in 22 months. This past chapter was a mix of contracting, freelancing, bootstrapping, tinkering, advising, and general exploring. It is true that not all who wander are lost, but at many times throughout this period, I felt that way. After being laid off in June 2023, just six months into my job, I needed a break from corporate life and felt destined to explore more independent paths. The past two years have been stimulating yet professionally isolating, full of possibilities but devoid of structure. I’m excited about the new constraints I’ve chosen for myself.

It’s definitely a cliche that health is what matters in the playoffs, but last round each of the four series was won by the healthier team

2 years from now, for most consumer experiences that use crypto, the underlying chain will be invisible. Exception will be if the target consumers own the underlying asset of the chain and are thus incentivized to hype an app because of a chain. For regular people, they will just care if the app is fun / interesting.

One month into the new job At first, I didn’t know what I didn’t know. But quickly things started to come into sight, if not into focus. Each day is a venture into the jungle. Sometimes it’s a safari, learning from a safe but exciting distance with a guide. Other days require a machete to hack my way through new territory. It’s exhausting even when I’m not doing much. Immersion keeps the brain alert all day. I’m mainly just trying to stay afloat right now, but energy management strategies will be key. So much of this is new: my title and responsibilities, the size and stage of the company, the lifestyle change from freelancing to full-time work. I wanted novelty and a challenge. And I’m getting what I asked for.

Anyone want to let me borrow their car for Memorial Day weekend? Trying to take Moose up to visit his grandparents but rental cars are going to cost $1k 🙃

Generally agree that people are overreliant on the data for living their daily life I think there are important diagnostic capabilities but most people don’t need to be checking a sleep score every day – the “metrics” are salient to justify charging a recurring subscription
