Under current trends (without substantial emission reductions): Of the previous 21 Winter Olympics host cities, only 4 are still considered climatically reliable. These cities are typically: Lake Placid (USA), Lillehammer and Oslo (Norway), and Sapporo (Japan). Other cities such as Chamonix, Sochi, Vancouver, and others will struggle to reliably host outdoor snow events due to rising temperatures, insufficient snowfall, or deteriorating snow quality (e.g., increased wet snow).
