Progress is accelerating. Examples: Samsung Pay and Coinbase have integrated to allow users to make payments directly with cryptocurrencies from their Samsung devices, with near-instant settlement. This means, for example, that you can pay in a store using your crypto balance as if it were fiat money, without needing to convert it manually or wait.
