I think it’s a big assumption that the petition’s signers are motivated by the fact they didn’t develop GPT-4 themselves… the whole “they’re just sooo jealous” narrative doesn’t leave room for ethics concerns. I mean, didn’t Microsoft disband their AI ethics committee entirely?
