One thing about Bitcoin — it inspires fanatics.
In the early days, it attracted anarchist cypherpunks and hardcore libertarians. Some of these guys were really out there. They were true believers. They saw Bitcoin as a tool for revolution.
As Bitcoin grew and matured, that early crowd faded a bit. But the fanaticism never left, only just evolved
