Zama @zama Bootstrapping TFHE ciphertexts in less than one millisecond Zama Breaks 1 Millisecond Barrier for TFHE Bootstrapping. Zama made fully homomorphic encryption (FHE) faster than ever. Bootstrapping now takes less than 1 millisecond on GPU. Speed is measured in microseconds. Security level and failure chance stay the same. First bootstrapping in 2021 took 53 milliseconds on CPU. Now it’s 945 microseconds on GPU for 4-bit messages. That is 56 times faster. For boolean data, 24 times faster than before. GPU power helps run many bootstraps at once easily. One setup with 8 GPUs can do 189,000 bootstraps per second. Big improvements in 64-bit encrypted addition and multiplication too, Addition from 2 seconds to 8.7 milliseconds. Multiplication: from 13 seconds to 32 milliseconds. This will help FHE reach real world use, especially in blockchain. FHE is now closer to speed like normal data without encryption. This is just the beginning, lets see more improvements are coming.
