Sony Honda Mobility (SHM) has made a major announcement ahead of CES 2026, announcing that the first production models of the Afeela electric vehicle have officially rolled off the production line. The vehicles, called the Afeela 1, were built at Honda’s Ohio plant in the United States in collaboration with Sony, and to ensure the quality of these products, which are a complex combination of automotive engineering and digital technologies, the company has set up a special facility called the Quality Gateway. In addition to the usual body and paint checks, special attention is paid to the correct functioning of the car’s software, sensors and communication systems to ensure that the promised user experience, especially in the entertainment and network connectivity areas, is flawless. Leveraging Sony’s expertise, the Afeela offers unique features such as the ability to run PlayStation games and a full-screen display on the dashboard.
