Alfred Davies and Hans Wilsdorf were half-brothers who in 1905 worked together to import Swiss Hermann engines to England and sold them to other watchmakers such as Dennison. Their hands were produced in the form of W&D. In 1908, these two brothers chose the Rolex brand for their business.
