When my son was about 10 years old, he was riding his bike in the neighborhood. Tldr, he wrecked trying to avoid a police car. A neighborhood kid came panicked to our door telling us he wrecked. My wife took off at a full on spint. I drove up, figuring he would need to ride home, and we'd need to carry the bike back.
My son was a bit rattled, but much more composed than you would expect a young person to be in this situation. We are the same.
My wife was losing her mind (I completely get it) and furious with me at my equanimity.
He broke both arms.
Of course the casts are OKC Thunder colors 👌
