I first heard whisperings of Farcaster a few years ago, when a few people that were very active in the Ethereum app layer started casting about this new decentralized social network. there was already a couple of networks vying to become the next generation of town square. however promising this mantle was, it did not seem at the time to be feasible or scalable enough without some kind of special hack, and keep in mind that we take blob scaling for granted when it's only been around a few years. however, in that timespan, Farcaster clearly demonstrated that there is no bear market for cracked builders, and Merkle's commitment to building out a social network beyond web2 was astounding. there's just not that many teams, even in Ethereum, especially outside of core development, that produce this great a work. there's been a perceptibly determined focus since @v laid out the architecture, and @dwr wasn't only casting into the void; there simply hasn't been any other individual that has risen to doing all that work of self-evident leadership. one has to really sit with those facts; one has to respect the courage and competence to slog through bootstrapping this network to hundreds of thousands of participants around the world. Farcaster exists and Ethereum needs such immaculate vibes, just like the Infinite Garden exists and the world needs such a proven ecosystem. and what vibes there are, with @horsefacts.eth not just giving us /yoink or ouliposts, but a butter-smooth wallet among other cultural artifacts. Neynar has been very useful for many of the features on the social network, they've been at the bleeding edge, and I'm excited to see more of what they build. and yet, I'm wistfully aware that all of us on Farcaster owe these builders a debt of gratitude, even as the ecosystem shifts further over very precious time, and the world will not often experience such a rare enterprise from such a superb group of humans.
