Google has open-sourced ARTEMIS—a system that enables AI Agents to autonomously control Android phones 🤖📱 By simply providing the Agent with a natural language prompt, ARTEMIS can: 🔥 Read the screen and identify interactive UI elements 🔥 Tap, swipe, enter text, and navigate 🔥 Verify results after each step 🔥 Take screenshots, save execution traces, and diagnose errors 🔥 Run multi-step workflows on physical devices or emulators ARTEMIS supports MCP and can integrate with Codex, Claude Code, Cursor, Windsurf, VS Code, and many other AI coding assistants. According to benchmarks published by the project, ARTEMIS achieved over a 99% task completion rate on AndroidWorld across more than 100 multi-step tasks. Instead of just writing code, AI Agents can now directly use a phone to build apps, install APKs, log into test accounts, execute user flows, and return screenshots whenever an error is detected.
