the connection between the individual and the collective can be understood through the lens of parenting as we grow older it’s necessary we “parent” each other government plays this role at scale which is why local government is so important and government in general has an obligation to get it right however there are many variables that increase a societies quality of over time but the consequences of getting it wrong are obvious and important to observe to correct direction living in Japan has shown me the direct correlation between rural and urban communities competing with each other for population with rapid population decline and rising incentive for local talent to leave rural communities are forced to observe exactly where they are going wrong they know how pivotal it now is to correct every mistake or else there will be no population left to govern now that next generation is more likely to feel attached to global society rather than our native country it’s more imperative than ever countries, and their local communities get it right this is the most important problem we currently face as a global society I believe the solution is bring communities closer to their local governments by creating new, inherently different coordination structures money is energy—your wants and needs literally decide global spending and as we continuously reevaluate our individual wants and needs it has very specific implications on our global economy that seems more fickle but actually makes us more resilient collectively but every generation must feel this way, right?
