SFO’s “Women of Afrofuturism” show is mostly non-AI work by Black women artists, yet it is catching heat for generative portraits by an established artist and educator. I will let the video that brands the exhibit “AI slop” speak for itself in terms of accuracy, bias, and outrage farming, but it is hard not to notice that this suddenly becomes a cultural emergency precisely when Black women and Afrofuturism are centered: https://www.sfchronicle.com/entertainment/article/sfo-ai-art-backlash-21239204.php
