Overall, the power shift in the IOC has been less thorough than in FIFA: Europe still controls key committees and the allocation of hosting rights (recent Olympics have mostly been awarded to Western democratic countries), but the expansion of membership and the Olympic Solidarity Fund (which provides subsidies to the Global South) are gradually revealing a trend toward southward shift.
