Atop the highest mountain peak, there is a treasure known only through the oldest of whispers. It is the best kept secret that everyone keeps. We do not discuss it for it would be cruel and unbecoming to romanticize over these trifles. But we all know it to be there calling our name when we sleep or sip our morning coffee. At the top of this mountain there is a cliff and from the lookout you can see the graveyard of the giants. Most after stepping off this ledge will succumb to their earthly weight and fall to their deaths, joining the giants in their slumber. Only the holiest of us will float; Float out and drift among the yellow skies, drifting after the sun as it goes and goes and goes...

Western education, employment, and culture’s lack of emphasis on building (no shop class, western academia as opposed to eastern manufacturing) is at least partially to blame for the loss of sense of purpose. Many of us are lost in endless paperwork, emails, and bureaucracy. Not a knock on the heros of the western canon but they are predominantly critics, while the great builders of our time are constantly critiqued for their faults. To be consequential is to run the risk of making mistakes. And to avoid all consequences is to abstain from greater purpose. We are culturally pressured to choose this path, impotent to all but constant critiques of ourselves and others. No wonder many of us are always anxious. This is not an inescapable doom. There are those who choose to build and create, embracing the consequences (see web3, Substack, internet frontier, spaceX). Hope is not lost.

As an American, I can’t help but envy the pride French ppl feel for their country. There are def parts of their culture we can learn from. Also nuclear energy and solid single family agriculture. The language sucks though, way too many letters per noise. 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

💯 forever wars, mass incarceration, taxes, inflation — All forms of state coercion. We still have a semi reasonable rule of law and truly wonderful alternative media platforms/protocols and new and improved money. So we’re not done yet.
