That's a very good point. I think for sure if you don't have something people want, any effort to get it noticed is like filling a broken bucket, but often even having it - you are competing with giants:

Corporates with huge distributions
VC backed startups with tons of cash spent on ads
Other builders with large distribution (from previous ventures, or just well positioned social profiles)

All to say - having a great product is a necessary but not sufficient condition for success

isn’t it a paradox saying “building something people love, and struggling to get it noticed”?


Often times people will just be nice to you in interviews, but if they actually like something- they are your biggest advocates and help others notice it for you. Almost always its the predictable result - not building something people need.
