if you’re coming to /farcon-rome, you’ll likely pass by one of the weirdest landmarks in the city
right between testaccio and ostiense sits the Piramide Cestia (yes, an actual egyptian-style pyramid… in rome)
built around 12 BC as a tomb for a roman magistrate (gaius cestius), during a time when egyptian culture was trending hard in the empire,
it’s one of those moments where rome casually bends reality and keeps going
right next to it you’ll find porta san paolo, old city walls, and the entrance to two of the most alive neighborhoods in the city:
→ Testaccio: raw, local, food-driven, very roman
→ Ostiense: post-industrial, creative, full of energy (and where our venue, industrie fluviali, is 👀)
this area is less “postcard rome” and more “real rome”
street art, markets, late dinners, random bars that turn into 3am conversations
so yeah, you’ll come for farcon
but you’ll end up spending time around a 2000-year-old pyramid surrounded by some of the best vibes in the city
rome does that to you
