* please Ignore the AI cover for this video 🙄* It’s so interesting seeing documentaries made about America. The ease with which they illuminate so many of the systemic ways poor & nonwhite people are oppressed and exploited shows just how deep the programming is here in the US. When I moved to Nashville, I lived maybe 20 minutes from downtown. If I turned left out of my complex, the sidewalk ended at the corner where the 4 lane highway started. If I turned right out of my complex, I’d meet a narrow and winding, wooded road lined with overgrown grass—no sidewalk. The nearest grocery store was a 6 minute drive or a 50 minute walk away. There was no possible way to get to food options, let alone work without a car. Buses were few and far between, ride-share rates were always high and sometimes higher, which made every trip or food order a luxury. https://youtu.be/OM8b5M6inpo?is=hcslaGag40gy-nuz
