Take a break from AI.. you really don’t need it for absolutely everything. If you’re a dev, do some of these exercises: https://jvns.ca/blog/2019/08/27/curl-exercises/ Even better, if you create your own exercises. Happy to do them if you share your own here. I find this a better way for learning.

Today I found out there's open source models from OpenAI and Gemini, that you can use with LM Studio. Using the usual prompt that I use for deep dive socratic learning, it's working really well locally. I use this prompt to force myself into thinking deeply, breaking down concepts, assumptions, into first principles. https://lmstudio.ai/models/openai/gpt-oss-20b

One of the tasks in software development that have a great impact on UX, is error handling and writing. How many times have we seen an error message saying: "Something went wrong, please try again". Instead, that could be phrased with more relevant information to provide a better UX. Below is a free resource for Technical Writing for devs, which focuses on improving your writing. How many times have you done this before? What stopped you from being more specific? https://developers.google.com/tech-writing/error-messages

A few months ago, I paused full-time work to focus on Farcaster projects back in June. Now I’m forced to look for a job again. I’m searching for roles as a Senior iOS Engineer or Senior React Native Engineer. I’m open to doing mini app work too if you know someone that might be interested. Renting in Spain is also a challenge even with savings, landlords prioritise citizens with jobs.

There are various ways you can brush up your dev skills: - Build your own project. Try not to rely too much on vibe coding and AI. Focus on the fundamentals and basics. There is proof that AI usage reduces critical thinking. - Don't know where to start? Look for coding challenges in GitHub. Here are some from Checkout (dot) com, which include various technologies: React, React Native, Go, Java, Python, etc. The way these are structured are great, and step by step. There's lots you can focus and learn from, to improve by doing one step at a time. Each step has a detailed section of requirements, which definitely helps with focusing on meeting the criteria. But what matters the most in the end, is being able to explain the decisions you make along the way: architecture, state management, UI design system, analytics, side effects, etc. How are you brushing up your dev skills? https://github.com/cko-recruitment https://www.livescience.com/technology/artificial-intelligence/using-ai-reduces-your-critical-thinking-skills-microsoft-study-warns
