I think there is a whole generation of the tech-optimistic / SF tech accelerationalist millennials who didn’t grow up with ubiquitous cell phone and social media usage in their formative years of childhood that don’t understand the destruction it caused. As such, they are completely out of touch with the harm social media and intern-connectedness stemming from constant phone usage has cause for younger generations. I think, unless you grew up with social media as THE status symbol in your formative years, it’s impossible to understand the relentless ruthlessness of social media unless you have a child that has been affected by the pandemic. In short social media is a net evil and you can never convince me otherwise. I get the irony that I am blasting this into the world via a social media platform. I don’t have the answers.
