I think it’s deeper than that.
I’ve been thinking about this a lot and I’m framing it as “addiction culture”
It goes way beyond people being addicted to gambling. People are “addicted” to so many things and consuming at an unprecedented level across all industries. Some examples food/clothing/travel - everyone has their vice and while some people are anti-gambling, you have a better chance of getting rich from being addicted to gambling then being addicted to instagram reels.
As a society we definitely have an addictions to gambling, but I think addiction to consumption is the larger issue.
