i largely agree with the first 2 points and i like the sentiment here, but taxing the rich will not solve the debt problem https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wealth_inequality_in_the_United_States the top 1% in its entirety had (in 2022) an estimated $43T, the deficit is $7T per year. even if we FULLY TAXED all (100%) of their wealth and took everything they had, leaving the entire top 1% fully broke, it would only cover our deficit for 6 years, and that's unrealistic, you can't do that twice, taxing people has to be sustainable year-over-year i hate wealth inequality and would love for us to tax the rich harder, but it seems pretty clear that taxing them at *any rate* will not effectively raise a reliable $7T per year in a sustainable long-term way... we're in debt because our spending is egregious (especially defense sector)
