i think it's good that there's centralized L2s like base and arbitrum that make compromises on decentralization to spur adoption and provide safety guarantees just like i think it's good that CEX still exist and buy ads at halftime shows - it's not "crypto" and im not the target market, but it's better that you use a CEX onramp than putting your money in Chase and getting your account shut down for buying BTC p2p on Craigslist (happened to me) L1 is the security layer; if you need full cypherpunk, you need L1, and we are lucky that L1 exists and remains secure and credibly neutral... the choice to trust an L2 is like the choice to trust a bank, dyor or stay on L1 becoming as decentralized as L1 is extremely hard. Eth is the most decentralized project on earth and it's not even close - it took years of slow growth towards the goal. every other project makes compromises on decentralization, expecting every L2 to be fully decentralized to the same degree is kinda silly honestly
