@leewardbound

ive been rewatching westwing and feeling guilty about it, bc aaron sorkin is frankly often insufferable in his righteous indignation (absolutely peaking with newsroom) but this weekend my wife put on Trial of Chicago 7 (2020), and he actually does a really respectable job of putting the system on trial, demonstrating (w/o moralizing) the lines between revolution and rioting, the limits of peaceful protest, and the challenges facing ortanizers, he really surfaces a lot of "alternative" (non-mainstream partisan) attitudes and highlights their ideological differences, i think it's really well done and demonstrates both braincells and backbone just feels good to see that arc in his thinking happen, like maybe being a nauseously woke sitcom writer doing imperialist copaganda democracy-porn in the 90s was just part of his radicalization
