WILD LONGINGS
I am being bullied
by a force
greater than my will,
consumed by hunger
greater than my appetite.
I'm full,
yet drawn
to wild longings:
this hunger
for an elephant,
But I can only ever
afford a meal
made entirely
of ants.
I am my own problem,
the one
reason
for my
unhappiness,
and I know it.
