such a great energy to both this film and casino royale (both directed by martin campbell!)
can only hope that the next reboot of bond has as great of a starting point as these two did
bring campbell back? he's an unremarkable filmmaker otherwise, but he's nailed the relaunch of this character twice!

must-watch, even if you "hate musicals"—still feels electric and alive nearly seventy(!) years later

pierrot le fou is a cool crime movie that (very clearly) inspired tarantino—experimental without being abrasive

few filmmakers have a filmography strong enough that a movie as good as miller's crossing could almost get lost in the cracks... but the coen brothers have managed!

revolutionary—as this film basically *invented* the concept of dramatic reenactment—and a compelling piece of true crime even without the innovation
