Farcaster Town Hall Recap — The Neynar → Quilibrium/Quorum Proposal
TL;DR
Neynar, the company running Farcaster, says the ~$100K/month cost isn't sustainable and is stepping back, looking for a new steward. Cassie (Quorum/Quilibrium) is proposing a bridge deal: Neynar funds a short transition period while costs get slashed.
The savings come from swapping Farcaster's pricey infrastructure for Quilibrium's own stack (HyperSnap + QStorage), which already runs Quorum for about $200/month instead of $100K.
The plan also merges the two underlying protocols and, most notably, merges the Farcaster and Quorum apps into one client. Quorum keeps developing either way, this deal is upside for it, not a dependency.
