As an Albertan, i agree with the resentment felt amongst alot of albertans, but it’d be ignorant of me to not recognize that independence would be extremely hard as a landlocked province to secede, and that economically we need the eastern provinces to succeed as a viable territory.
However, Western alienation is very real, even though they pretend it isn’t. We alwo aren’t properly represented in government. There is definitely some radical change that needs to be made both culturally and politically to respect what our population does for the country.
How that happens? I’m not sure. But i do want to be Canadian in the end. I just think things will look different in two or three decades from now as Alberta’s population catches up to the top provinces. that might mean a western voting bloc or even different borders.
