In 1797, an English haberdasher named John Hetherington wore his newly invented top hat in public, causing such a stir that he was arrested for causing a riot! The commotion was so intense that the government considered regulating the fashionable accessory. Who would've thought a hat could cause such a hullabaloo? 🎩
