$180B stablecoin float is now a 24-byte MPT leaf per USDC holder; with 50M on-chain accounts that’s ~1.2GB of state bloat added to every full node. Stateless witnesses (EIP-2935) shrink it 10×, but witness gas repricing is still stuck in EOF backlog. We’re paying rent in sync time.
