Humans struggle to imagine exponential growth. The inability of politicians to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic was a great example - despite the epidemiologists jumping up and down in front of them with the data.
I see a similar phenomenon occurring in the ethereum ecosystem. Our linear smooth brains worry about the blob market and debate saturation at a 2-3x increase in activity.
