Is it possible to stay in a tent on top of Mount Everest while climbing to the summit? Reaching the summit itself is an epic journey. An altitude of 5,364 m is the Base Camp where climbers acclimatize and prepare. It's not easy to breathe at this altitude. Without oxygen, 229 climbers have summited. Before climbing to Mt. Everest you need to properly acclimatize for climbing only. Reaching the summit you have already entered the death zone due to low oxygen -50° winds can gust over 160knph and biometric pressure drops to only a third of the sea level. The biometric pressure makes it hard to breathe. It's more like surviving.
