Base is an Ethereum L2 built on the OP Stack. It executes transactions off-chain and settles them on Ethereum.
Speed on Base comes from a centralized sequencer batching transactions and posting data to Ethereum as calldata. Fast confirmation is a UX feature, not final settlement.
This design trades early decentralization for reliability and distribution. The real test is not daily usage, but whether decentralization arrives on time.
Infrastructure is judged at transition points, not at peak throughput
