Bybit was hacked for approximately $1.5 billion in ETH and stETH.
The incident occurred when the exchange's cold multi-signature ETH wallet transferred funds to its warm wallet. Unfortunately, this transaction was altered using a sophisticated attack that masked the signing interface, displaying the correct address while modifying the underlying smart contract logic. As a result, the attacker gained control over the compromised cold ETH wallet and transferred the assets to an unidentified address.
