What would a bar in the "Alien" universe look like? Pretty much like Giger's bar in the Swiss town of Gruyères. It actually exists. The artist who won an Oscar for the visual style of that cult film was an architect by training. People like that are a handful in the film industry. And it's even rarer when one of them decides to build us a piece of that alien world - not on screen, but in reality. So you could feel it with your skin To do this, inside a 12th-century castle, Giger grew a monstrous creature. Arches resembling giant vertebrae curve down from the ceiling, ribcages serve as chairs, and screaming infants are embedded in the walls. And it doesn't feel like a movie prop. You completely forget you're in a building with perpendicular walls and flat ceilings. You sit inside this leather-and-bone giant, feeling like a guest in a world that was either meticulously designed or just grew on its own 📍 Rue du Château 3, 1663 Gruyères, Switzerland
