Cryptocurrencies are digital boundaries. That is, in the physical world you can clearly distinguish where France ends and Germany begins. And you can enumerate the millions of people near the Franco-German border, as opposed to those who are more internally located. But in the digital world, you can’t easily see the Instagram/X border. You can’t see which people spend a lot of time on both platforms, and are in a sense near the network border, as opposed to those who are “patriots” to just one platform. Until crypto. Because coin holdings give public digital boundaries. You can determine from wallets and posts which people are coin maximalists (and hold 100% in one coin) vs which people are in digital border territories (and hold balances in multiple coins). This is machine-readable information that can establish digital and physical borders for a community. NFT-gated Discords and door locks prove the point. So: it’s early now, but eventually crypto tribalism becomes crypto patriotism.

We are indeed currently in the process of large changes to EF leadership structure, which has been ongoing for close to a year. Some of this has already been executed on and made public, and some is still in progress. What we're trying to achieve is primarily the following goals: * Improve level of technical expertise within EF leadership * Improve two-way communications and ties between EF leadership and the ecosystem actors, old and new, that it is our role to support: users (individual and institutional), app devs, wallets, L2s * Bring in fresh talent, improve execution ability and speed * Become more actively supportive of app builders, and make sure important values and inalienable rights (esp privacy, open source, censorship resistance) are a reality for users including at the app layer * Continue to increase our use of decentralized and privacy tech and the Ethereum chain, including for payments and treasury management ...

I used to complain a lot about DeFi, L2 tokens etc. and their abysmal token distributions in 2021/22, to deaf ears That particular slippery slope has met its valley Just straight up criminal extortion, no filter 🤣

It's surreal to see cryptobros cheer on blatant capture by 1 country, real or imagined, by heavily shilling "American coins", with very little resistance Just more evidence for what we all know - very few give a fuck about defending a neutral globally accessible system, it's all about greed & whatever pumps your bags

Generative AI is helping me write code, make drawings and learn. Crypto is helping me make international payments, use more open social networks, and get a new class of supplementary news via polymarket. What is the metaverse doing? (Genuine question, not an attack) https://x.com/edzitron/status/1833914016240222715

I want Farcaster to succeed as I think it is truly important for humanity to have a "global town square" based on a neutral protocol rather than a platform owned by a single company, or worse, a single person. Still, I keep switching my default behavior to post on Twitter, simply because I get ~10x more resonance on Tweets. I assume (at least in the crypto-Twitter world) I am not the only one in this situation. So maybe some form of vampire attack could work. Try to get at least 1,000 people from CT with >1,000 followers to commit x$ to post exclusively on Farcaster for 1 month. As soon as the 1,000 people are reached, the agreement kicks in and everyone should only post here. Those who break the agreement get "slashed," and the slashed money is distributed among those actually following through. WDYT?

Will optimistic layer 2 merge with zero knowledge layer 2 in the future? Like Optimism to merge with Zksync.
