When we first set out to build Nouns Grants, one of our design goals was to completely remove crypto touchpoints for the end-user. While Nouns Camp is a crypto-native product built for an internal audience, we wanted to take Grants in the completely opposite direction. The result is an application process where anyone with an internet connection can apply for a grant, regardless of crypto familiarity or technical know-how. We use email signup (Privy) and smart wallet creation (Coinbase) at the moment the user applies. This setup allows us to sponsor gas fees and, using delegated actions, circumvents the need to introduce foreign concepts like candidate promotion or transaction failure to the end user.
