I went on a run yesterday for the first time in years. There was a time when being active came naturally to me, but somewhere between work, responsibility, survival, and repeating the same routine every day, I slowly became someone who only moved between home and work. The last time I properly ran was during my child’s inter-house sports festival, for the parents’ race. Even then, it felt like my body was reminding me how long it had been. This year has been heavy in ways I still don’t fully know how to explain. In March, a friend died in her boyfriend’s house. Nobody could clearly say what happened. Then he took his own life too. Everything about it felt dark, confusing, unfinished. Before I could even process that, April came with another hit.
