📘MISSION LOG: ENTRY 03 📖
🛰Transmission from Tegmine(Zeta Cancri)📍
🔴 A Stellar Quartet in Disguise:
What appears as a single star in Cancer’s claw is, in truth, a celestial masquerade: Two binary pairs locked in gravitational embrace. Tegmine is a quadruple star system, its light braided from four suns.
🟠 Main Sequence Mix:
These stars shimmer in yellow-white hues, spectral types F8V to G0V, with surface temperatures between 6,000–6,230 K slightly hotter than our Sun.
⚪️ Discovered by William Herschel:
In the 18th century, William Herschel first glimpsed its multiplicity. Since then, it has become a favorite among telescope voyagers, revealing ever more intricate orbits.
🔵 Occultation Potential:
Lying near the ecliptic, Tegmine occasionally vanishes behind the Moon a fleeting eclipse that turns its quartet into a whispered absence.
