🔴Fourth Brightest Star in the Night Sky:
Arcturus shines with an apparent magnitude of −0.05, making it the brightest star in the constellation Boötes and the fourth brightest overall in Earth’s night sky.
🟠A Red Giant in Its Twilight:
Arcturus has exhausted the hydrogen in its core and expanded to about 25 times the Sun’s radius. It’s nearing the end of its stellar life and will eventually become a white dwarf.
🟡Celestial Navigator:
Arcturus is one of the 58 stars used in celestial navigation.
⚪️Ancient and Revered:
Estimated to be around 7.1 billion years old, Arcturus has been referenced since at least the 8th century BCE. Its name comes from the Greek Ἀρκτοῦρος (Arktouros), meaning “guardian of the bear,” linking it to the nearby Ursa Major constellation.
