I think a bigger problem is Ledgerβs lack of communication. There is no technical documents nor detailed recovery procedures for public review. And I donβt understand why they choose real ID-based over social recovery. But I think improving recovery process is a welcomed feature if you want crypto to be mainstream.

I am fine with slightly thicker phone if the regulation could indeed reduce electronic waste. But there is no logical reason it is the case. They could have just mandate manufacturers to service batteries for free for 6 years which incentives easier repair and better battery tech, without crippling the design.
