So it’s not a literacy thing it’s just being able to understand a situation without being a participant? This would not be limited to books though, if that was true then those people would not be able to understand almost anything

How does the perspective impact their ability to read? Are we confusing their ability to do so with whether they like it or not?

Like most things this also feels like a much smaller percentage issue being to attributed to an entire generation

What's wrong with reading in third person?

Is this influenced by the popularity of YA and the fact that most YA is written in first person? Or does something else drive this?
