I’m convinced this makes a significant difference. When kids see old good material — art, music, sports, books — they have a better sense of what’s good (and why) in any other context, rather than just liking things because they’re popular.

I plan on gifting my kids the gaming systems I grew up with, one birthday at a time. Starting when they’re 5, they’ll get the Super Nintendo and go from there.

We joke but this kinda behavior can go way to far and become a developmental problem. IMO a lot of parents (maybe most?) delve into child abuse / neglect when it comes to media. Our culture is terrible about regulating it too.
