4. Next-generation geothermal startup XGS Energy just signed a deal with oilfield services giant Baker Hughes to work together on the company's first 150-megawatt plant in New Mexico.
5. The Philippines declared a national energy emergency, which was a good reason to recirculate my 2024 reporting from the country's only (abandoned) nuclear power plant.
PLUS: The Iran war has already generated as much emissions as Iceland produces in a year. If it continues apace for another 11 months, the conflict will be linked to as much climate-changing pollution as the lowest-emitting 84 countries produce in a year.
