When I stood before the Colosseum I felt the weight of centuries pressing into the warm Roman air The arches rose like a frozen roar from the past whispering of gladiators and emperors of dust and applause I walked along its weathered stones imagining the echo of a crowd that once surged like a tide around the arena The energy reminded me of another kind of spectacle one I had felt far from Rome at a Formula One circuit There the sound of engines was a modern thunder and the air vibrated with speed and risk The Colosseum held the ghosts of combat while the track held the pulse of machines yet both shared the same hunger for human awe In each place time seemed to dissolve leaving only the raw intensity of the moment and the unshakable truth that people have always gathered to witness the limits of courage
