Have been playing with Metamask snaps, a way to add custom functionality to the wallet. For initial experiment, created a proof-of-concept for token scams detection when trading on DEXs. Haven't seen it. Looks great! I wonder what's better, a separate extension or a metamask snap. So far my biggest gripe with snaps is that they are restricted in their UI and it's too easy to miss info with "scam warning", etc making it useless but I think this will get improved.
