My last startup was all about verifying student resume credentials. I shut it down I realized that even if “Adam went to University of SC” is in the university system, that proof lives behind a few admin logins and can be quietly altered. The only real way to prove it is if the university itself issued a tamper-proof, immutable record of the degree and that the world can see it on a universal, public registry that's why we started Trust Engine (https://trustengine.org/) to allows creators & publishers to do exactly that for their own work and for consumers to come to their own conclusion what to trust
